Security: Monarch applauds Adamawa Governor

A traditional ruler in Adamawa State, (Hama Bachama), Dr. Daniel Shaga has commended the State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri for putting in a lot of effort to stabilize the security situation in the state.

The Hama Bachama who is also the chairman Bachama Traditional Council has maintained that insecurity remains the most significant hindrance to farming and agriculture, development of critical infrastructure, education, tourism and socio-economic development in Nigeria.

Dr Shaga made this statement in his Palace at Numan, Adamawa state, Northeast Nigeria when he received an audience of 38 participants of Course 32 of the National Defense College, NDC, who were in the State on a study tour.

He told the visitors that until now, the state, most especially the Southern zone and in particular Numan federation where his domain is located had suffered diverse security challenges.

“Such challenges includes conflicts between herders and farmers, frequent invasion of innocent communities by aliens, kidnap for ransom among other crisis-prone disputes.” He said.

He informed the nation’s defenders that the commitment of Governor Fintiri to tackle insecurity has brought about a reduction to the barest minimum, the prevalence of insecurity, ensuring that no community in the Southern zone is currently overwhelmed by disputes, conflicts and clashes as it used to be.

The first class Monarch recommended to further consolidate the current relative peace in the state, stakeholders must continue to discuss more seriously the need to modernize cattle grazing and to adopt modern agricultural methods which have the advantage of yielding higher outputs and profits, reducing conflicts and creating more secure environment.

On education, the monarch suggested that it is significant that the government establishes more higher institutions of learning in the Southern Senatorial District, especially for the deprived communities of the Numan Federation.

For his part, the team leader, Commodore Sunday Yahaya, said the defence institution of Nigeria Armed Forces, pay serious attention to the experiences of monarchs as well as share their own knowledge on national and international security to assist traditional rulers do more towards securing their regions and the nation.

On behalf of the team and the management of the Defence College, Commodore Yahaya commended the traditional ruler for being a fervent security and peace advocate, noting that despite the many security challenges that had bedevilled his domain, he was able to have proper control of his subjects and stopped them from taking the law into their hands.

He informed the monarch l that since its establishment in 1992, NDC has trained 2,750 security personnel including those from neighbouring nations at strategic levels to strengthen National and sub-regional security for peace and development.

Commodore Yahaya added that the current course participants are in six teams visiting different states in the country simultaneously.

The team leader added that the tour is an important aspect of the course designed purposely to acquaint participants with the socio-political environment of states and the country.

The team later presented  Dr Daniel Shaga with a gift as is the tradition of the college, which symbolizes the homeliness of the king and his strong disposition towards the peace and progress of Nigeria.
