News magazine Honours Prominent Nigerians

The Publishers of Our Nigeria News Magazine has honoured prominent Nigerians for their contribution to the development of the country at the 5th Edition of Our Nigeria Awards 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.

At this year’s edition with the theme “Providing a Podium for the Unsong Hero”, those who have distinguished themselves in the fields of security, Politics, academy, Agriculture, Technology, medicine amongst others were honoured at the glamorous event held at the international Conference Centre, Abuja.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai who was the Chairman of the occasion said the award calls for more commitment, dedication and loyalty from those awarded.

“We see this award as a mark of appreciation to the individuals for their service to their nation.” 

The Former Director of Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, retired Major General Victor Ezegwu who spoke with Voice of Nigeria said a new Nigeria is possible and can be attained when all hands are put together to work for the betterment of all citizens.

A Professor of Participatory and Development Communication, Nasarawa State University, Professor Emmanuel Dandaura who delivered a lecture at the event, identified attitudinal change in order to promote national unity and development.

He equally identified leadership failure as one of the major problems of Nigeria.

The Publisher of Our Nigeria News Magazine, Dr Muhammed Abubakar, stated that the media outfit use its platforms to unveil and showcase men who distinguished themselves quietly in their fields.

No fewer than 25 Nigerians were honoured during the night including: His Royal Majesty, the Oba Hameed Makama CON (Oluyede III) Olowu of Owu-Kuta Kingdom who was honoured with the Legendary Icon of the Year.
