NUJ Ebonyi State Chapter Donates Food Items to Less Privileged Homes

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council, has donated some food items to some less privileged homes in Abakaliki, the state capital, as part of activities to mark its 2023 Press Week scheduled for today, Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Dr. Sam Egwu Press Centre, Abakaliki.

The NUJ made the donation on her vist to the Holy Innocent Motherless Babies Home and Old People’s Home.
On the visit, the NUJ team which was led by the State Council Chairman, Comrade Samson Nwafor, presented tubers of yam, toiletries, beverage, diapers, detergent and other items to the homes.
At the Holy Innocent Motherless Babies Home, Comrade Nwafor said the union was on the visit as an expression of love to the children.
He prayed God to continue to protect the children and grant them good health for them to fulfill God’s purpose for them.
“There are lots of activities that we use to mark our Press Week. We have done a lot of them, and today was chosen for visits to motherless babies home and old people’s homes where we have less privileged persons.
“We use this period to celebrate with everybody, including the rich and the poor in the society.
“We don’t have much, but this is our widow’s mite, and we pray that the children who will make use of the items we brought to them will have good health, grow and become whatever God has destined them to be in life,” said the chairman of the NUJ State Council.
Receiving the union, one of the care givers, Rev. Sister Fides Nwachukwu, commended the NUJ Ebonyi State Chapter for the kind gesture. She urged individuals and other organizations in the state to emulate the union.
“Your visit is a very good one; it is a nice one, and I pray that God will continue to bless you and your families and you will continue to remember the less privileged in our society.
“The children can’t talk, but in spirit they are very happy; and as they are smiling, so also will your family continue to smile,” she said.
Rev. Sister Nwachukwu noted that the Holy Innocent Motherless Babies Home, Abakaliki, was established in April this year and currently has ten babies under its care, with the oldest among them being eight months.
