YBL Week Four Holds Friday
The next round of the YUCATECO Boxing League has been scheduled to hold on Friday, November 24 at Egbeda, Lagos State.
The clubs set to participate in the week four clash at Egbeda are the Group B teams namely Green Grace Farmers Market Boxing Club, YS Rano Boxing Club, Tizimi Boxing Club and CONKAL Boxing Club.
November 17, boxers battled in week three of the YBL at the St. Peter’s Blue Roof Event Centre in Agege, Lagos.
With boxers from the four clubs in Group A namely Progreso, Angulo Siete, CONKAL and Akil Boxing Clubs, locked in ten eventful bouts to the admiration of the spectators and club supporters.
Progreso was at home to CONKAL while Akil, the visiting club, boxed out of the Blue corner against Angulo Siete.
In terms of club overall performance, Progreso Boxing Club were the clearly the best club of the night, posting five wins over CONKAL.
Salawu Rilwan of Akil Boxing Club was the best boxer on the night as he showed much composure to withstand the unrelenting onslaught of Raheem Rilwan (no relations), of home team, Angulo Siete to claim the win in the 63.5kg weight category.
In the other 63.5kg bout of the night, Kingsley Gabriel of Progreso Boxing Club forced the referee to stop the contest as his opponent, Tajudeen Wasiu (CONKAL) lost by TKO.
The 8th bout of the night between Tijani Faruk (Angulo Siete) and Abdulah AdbulRasheed (Akil) would qualify as the day’s closest contest. The judges’ split decision of 3 to 2, in favour of Faruk, elicited excited mixed reactions from the crowd.
Other results of the night include Progreso’s Waris Adekoya overwhelming Anjorin Alameen (CONKAL) in a 4-1 split decision, Quazeem Abib (Angulo Siete) easing to another 4-1 split decision win over Oduniyi Sodiq of Akil and Quam Musefiu of Progreso getting a win over Akil’s Anayo Emmanuel.
Also, Friday Matthew (Progreso) overcame Muiz Oladimeji (CONKAL), while Adeniyi Bolajoko (Progreso) out-pointed Kuku Johnson (CONKAL), and Jimoh Afeez (Akil) got the win over Abdulah Abolaji of Angulo Siete.
