The All Progressives Congress, APC has launched a 7-man Caretaker Committee  to take charge of the party’s affairs in Rivers State.

This development follows the dissolution of the Rivers State Executives of the Party at all levels, as announced by the National Working Committee, NWC on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

The inauguration took place at the Party’s Secretariat in Abuja, with the national chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje presiding over the ceremony.

Chief Tony Okocha assumes the role of the committee’s chairman.

Addressing the newly sworn-in members, Dr. Ganduje emphasised the need to establish a robust foundation for the party in Rivers State.

He outlined key expectations, including the implementation of electronic member registration and the formation of various committees to enhance party involvement.

Dr. Ganduje urged unity among committee members, saying, “You don’t belong to any group but the group of APC in Rivers State.”

He called on them to create an inclusive environment for the conduct of congresses at different levels and ultimately build a strong foundation for the party leading up to the next gubernatorial election.

In response, Chairman Tony Okocha expressed confidence in the committee’s capabilities, vowing to end factionalism within the APC in Rivers State.

He affirmed the committee’s commitment to engaging with party supporters, reaching out to other political entities, and positioning the APC as a source of pride in Rivers State.
