Nigerian club Rivers United started its CAF Confederation Cup Group C campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Angola’s Academia do Lobito, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Stanley Eguma’s side opened the scoring through Samuel Antwi after three minutes with Paul Odeh providing the assist.
Then two minutes after the break, Odeh extended the lead for Rivers United after scoring a stunning goal to put the Nigerian side in a commanding position.
The hosts put the game beyond the visitors when Shedrack Asiegbu scored Rivers United’s third goal in the 60th minute to put the icing on the cake.
The match finished 3-0 in favour of Rivers United, who comfortably cruised past the Angolans in a thrilling encounter in Uyo.

In the other Group C game, Club Africain of Tunisia defeated Ghana’s Dreams FC 2-0.
Rivers United occupy top spot in Group C on goal difference, while Club Africain are in second place. The Nigerian side will face Dreams FC in its next encounter at the Cape Coast Stadium next week Sunday.
