The Adamawa State Government says ten thousand naira will be given as monthly allowance to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri made this known during the 2023 swearing-in ceremony of batch C Corps members posted to Adamawa at the Orientation Camp in Girei Local Government Area.
The measure according to the governor was part of the commitment of his administration to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on the corps members.
He donated fifty bags of rice, ten bulls and ten Jericans of cooking oil to the newly deployed corps members to make the orientation camp more memorable for them.
While assuring them security of their lives and property, Governor Fintiri urged the corps members to be security conscious and follow the personal security tips they will be exposed to.
“Above all, the Orientation Camp is also a golden opportunity for you to discover your talents and other potentials. So please grab this golden opportunity with both hands,” Fintiri said.
The Governor encouraged the corps members to avail themselves of the opportunities for self-employment offered through the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
The Commissioner of Youths and Sports who doubles as the State Chairman NYSC Governing Board, Barrister Wali Yakubu encouraged the corps members to stay off the long queue of job seekers by choosing from the various skill sets and participating fully in the training sessions.
Similarly, the State NYSC Coordinator, Mr Jingi Denis said in view of the peaceful atmosphere in the state, the scheme has reviewed posting policies in which more corps members are now being posted to Local Government Areas outside the state capital.
Before now NYSC members posted to the state used to receive 20 thousand naira at the completion of their service.
