The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, said his administration is planing to construct a Sports Arena, valued at $100 million in an effort to promote sporting activities.

The Governor stated this while hosting a delegation led by Aluko Amaebi, the President of the Federation of Public Service Games, who visited him at Government House Minna.

Governor Bago emphasised that the Arena, strategically located between Abuja and Suleija, reflects his commitment to sports development by providing the necessary resources to boost the sector.

He unveiled the sporting kits for the upcoming 42nd Federal Civil Service games to be hosted by Niger State and described sports as a crucial element in people’s well-being. Additionally, he offered some sporting facilities at the Government House for use during the games.

“I commended civil servants, the engine room of the nation’s economy, for venturing into sports and I promised to support them,” Governor Bago said.

In his response, Amaebi  said the games to be hosted by Niger State will include the entire Federal Public Service, covering all federal establishments in the 36 states. He praised Governor Umaru Bago’s efforts in sports development, highlighting the significant role he played during his time in the National Assembly.

The games, scheduled to hold in Minna between December 4th – 14th, 2023, will see the participation of no fewer than 10,000 delegates from the Federal, State, and Local Government Civil Service in various sports.
