Urology is a part of health care that deals with diseases of the male and female urinary tract (kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra).
Mr Hussaini Kabir, a member of the foundation’s Board of Trustees, disclosed this during the inauguration of the exercise at the Amadi Rimi Orthopaedic Hospital in Katsina.
According to him, 30 patients have successfully undergone the surgery while the remaining patients would be attended to within the week.
He revealed that about N195,000 was spent on each of the patients, adding that the beneficiaries would not pay a single Kobo as the surgery was free of charge.
He explained that before the exercise, more than 100 patients registered and passed through screening and series of laboratory investigations and 20 were treated and given drugs as they won’t need the surgery.
Kabir explained that the foundation had shouldered the responsibility of all the expenses, including drugs and other necessary requirements until they were healed.
He added that such free medical outreach was a routine exercise being conducted for a long time, saying such initiative was conducted quarterly.
“The foundation was purposely for empowerment, development, educational and charitable purposes by supporting the poor and vulnerable in the areas of healthcare and economic sustainability,” he said.
He explained that the foundation, initiated in the last eight years, had also sponsored surgical operations on thousands of patients who were suffering from hernia, hydrocele and eye defects.
