Abuja Chamber of Commerce Gets New President

Mr Emeka Obegolu has been elected as the 12th President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, ACCI.

Mr Obegolu who was elected during the 33rd Annual General Meeting of the Chamber in Abuja Nigeria’s capital, said moving forward, the Chamber will focus on improving value proposition, while encouraging participatory membership.

Other areas of focus he said include;

  • Infrastructure Development
  • Professionalising the Secretariat
  • Repositioning brand
  • Legislative and Policy advocacy
  • Ease of doing business and
  • Expanding market opportunities.

According to him: “For over 37 years, Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been a pillar of economic growth, a hub for trade facilitation, and an advocate for our members, Our commitment to excellence and service has led to setting unparalleled benchmarks within our industry.

“As I begin my tenure as President, with the Deputy Presidents and Vice Presidents, I am humbled by the trust and honor bestowed upon me to lead this esteemed organization.

“Together, let us embark on a journey that fortifies our foundation and steers us towards a future brimming with accomplishments, recognition, and shared prosperity,” Mr Obegolu stated.

The Outgoing president, Mr Al-Mujtaba Abubakar while speaking, said he had no doubt that the incoming president and his team will support the government to ensure policies and programs of the government are designed towards supporting businesses.

Also, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba was elected as the 1st Deputy President, Dr Aliyu Idi Hong was elected as the 2nd Deputy President of ACCI and the new Director General is Agabaidu Jideani.
