Anambra State: National Orientation Agency Gets New Leadership

The Anambra State Office of the National Orientation Agency (NOA) of Nigeria has a new leadership.

The National Orientation Agency of Nigeria is the body tasked with ensuring that government programmes and policies are better understood by the general public in addition to promoting patriotism, national unity, and development of the Nigerian society.

Its vision is to develop a Nigerian society that is orderly, responsible and disciplined, where citizens demonstrate core values of honesty, hard work and patriotism; where democratic principles and ideals are upheld; and where peace and social harmony reign.

Mr Edozie Ajaegbu takes over as the NOA Anambra State Director, following the successful retirement of Sir Joseph Uchendu after thirty-one years and seven months of meritorious service.

Mr Edozie Ajaegbu, a native of Umunachi in Dunukofia local government area of Anambra State, was before now a director at the NOA National Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Addressing the management and staff of the NOA on Friday soon after a brief handover ceremony by the outgone director, Mr Ajaegbu expressed satisfaction with the level of achievements recorded by the NOA in Anambra State amidst paucity of funds.

The State Director, Mr Ajaegbu, noted that the Director General of the National Orientation Agency, Mallam Isa Lanre Onilu, has the passion to move the agency to greater heights through prompt implementation of people-oriented programmes at the grassroots level across the country.

An Open Door Policy

The new director, Mr Edozie Ajaegbu, promised to operate an open door policy, upholding the legacies of his predecessor, Sir Joseph Uchendu.

He also promised to work towards improving the welfare of the staff for greater productivity.

Earlier, the outgone State Director, Sir Joseph Uchendu, identified paucity of funds as one of the impediments to the smooth implementation of the agency’s programmes.

He, however, solicited support for the new Director General of the NOA, Mallam Isa Lanre Onilu, in his quest to reposition the agency to achieve its target of state integration.

“I glorify God for the bountiful achievements I recorded in the NOA all these years…

“No matter the depth of core challenges the agency is facing today in the country like improper funding, there is an urgent need for adequate provision of logistics for the NOA in its task of social reengineering,” he appealed.

Receiving the new director on behalf of the management and staff of the NOA in Anambra State, the Deputy Director, Special Duties at the NOA, Awka, Barrister Ifeoma Chijioke, assured Mr Ajaegbu of their unalloyed cooperation in achieving his set objectives for the agency in Anambra State.

She further solicited the continuous support and advice of the outgone State Director, Sir Joseph Uchendu.
