Lagos, Ogun States: National Commission for Refugees Distributes Relief Items

The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has flagged off the distribution of food and non-food items to refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees resident in Lagos and Ogun States, Southwest Nigeria.
At the flag-off ceremony in Lagos, the Federal Commissioner and CEO of the NCFRMI, Aliyu Tijani Ahmed, reiterated the commitment of the commission to provide lasting solutions and sustainable reintegration to all persons of concern in the Southwest zone.
Represented by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Mr Alex Oturu, the federal commissioner said a total of one hundred and twenty-five (125) households benefited from the distribution of welfare kits, which comprised food stuffs, clothing, toiletries, and other essential items.
Speaking on behalf of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Borno State, Mr Mohammed Babagana appreciated the efforts of the commission to consistently provide support to vulnerable groups, noting that the relief items provided would go a long way in sustaining the IDPs during the festive season.
The NCFRMI has a mandate to provide protection and succour to persons of concern in Nigeria, which include refugees, migrants, internally displaced persons as well as stateless persons through various programmes of the agency and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
