Oyo to Launch Software For Pensioners

The Oyo State Government had said it is set to launch a software designed for pensioners in the state.

The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Pensions Board, Tunji Adekunle, disclosed that the software would enable pensioners have easy access to confirm their living status from the comfort of their homes, using either a smartphone or a computer system.

A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said the Oyo State Government would continue to prioritise the welfare of the senior citizens in the state.

According to the statement, the software would relieve the pensioners of the field verification they had been carrying out all year, thereby, reducing the stress of travelling long distances.

The statement also revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde was one of the governors who had begun the payment of wage awards for civil servants and pensioners in the state.

He said the government would not relent in its pursuit to improve the lives of its retirees as it prioritises the welfare and well-being of its pensioners.

He noted that the Pensions Board had put in place lots of programmes that would benefit the senior citizens in the state.

Adekunle called on the pensioners to be wary of fraudsters and desist from engaging unfamiliar faces to do their paperwork for them.

He sought the continuous support of the pensioners for the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state.

Prioritising Pensioners welfare

Earlier, the Secretary, Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo State, Comrade Olusegun Abatan, praised the Governor Makinde-led government for prioritising the welfare of pensioners in the state.

Abatan said the pensioners supported Makinde’s second-term ambition and would continue to support him further in his administration.

The meeting had in attendance the Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Pensioners Board, Mrs Modupe Adeleye; directors from the board and executive members of the union.
