The Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Nadada psc, mni, has banned the sale and unauthorized use of fireworks (knockouts) around the state during the yuletide.
According to a statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramhan Nansel, the ban has become necessary because it poses a danger to the society.

“The ban has become necessary due to the dangers associated with the sale and unauthorized use, which includes but is not limited to criminals using it to carry out criminal acts; creating tension; its high tendency to cause bodily injuries; and causing fire outbreaks.
The danger of the fireworks is severe and cannot be allowed by all means.
“Anyone caught would be made to face the full wrath of the law,” the state commissioner of police warned.
He, therefore, warned dealers and users of knockouts to desist forthwith and urged parents and guardians to discourage their children and wards from buying and igniting fireworks.
