APC Condemns PDP’s Dismissive Stance on President Tinubu’s New Year Message

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for its response to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s New Year message, deeming it a clear indication of the PDP’s inability to function as a credible opposition party.
The National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka in a statement emphasized that if the position of an opposition party were a contested one, the PDP would still fall short of meeting the required standards.
Morka argued that democratic opposition politics should not be characterized by incivility or baseless accusations, highlighting the importance of a nuanced understanding of social and economic policies.
Morka further criticized the PDP’s perceived irrationality, labelling it as detrimental to the democratic process.
In contrast, he praised President Tinubu’s New Year address as measured, sensitive, and presidential, highlighting its appropriateness for the occasion and purpose.
The APC spokesperson underscored the significance of a New Year address, emphasizing that it is a goodwill message to the nation and an opportunity to set expectations for the upcoming year.
Morka criticized the PDP for failing to grasp this basic understanding.
President Tinubu’s address was commended for its forthrightness in acknowledging the challenges posed by some administration policies and expressing a commitment to address them.
Morka highlighted the President’s focus on tackling issues such as power and energy challenges, refining petroleum products locally, lowering prices of goods, job creation, fostering a conducive business environment, addressing insecurity, and ensuring food security and affordability.
Morka however urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu and the APC administration, emphasizing the President’s dedication to fulfilling electoral promises and improving living conditions for all citizens.
