ADP Faults IPAC Leadership Election, Challenges Process In Court

The National Organizing Secretary of the  Action Democratic Party in Nigeria, ADP, Dr. Alex Maiyanga says the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Nigeria, IPAC should serve as a model for all the political parties in the country by fostering an enduring democratic culture and good governance in Nigeria.

Dr Maiyanga who made the statement at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja Nigeria’s capital rejected the December 18th 2023 IPAC’s National leadership election which Mr Yusuf Dantalle of the Allied People’s Movement, APM was declared the winner with 10 votes, while Mr Yabagi Sani of ADP scored eight votes.

Dr Maiyanga faulted the electoral process stating “At first glance, it seemed like a fair and valid outcome, and Mr Sani graciously congratulated Alhaji Dantalle on his victory”.

He noted, that in light of the findings, the ADP, represented by Mr Yabagi Yusuf Sani, approached the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to halt the inauguration of Mr Yusuf Dantalle as the IPAC National Chairman.

He said, “On December 29, 2023, our application was granted by Justice O. A. Musa. The court, in its Motion Experte, ordered IPAC not to inaugurate anyone declared as the winner of the December 18, 2023 election.

It also directed IPAC to maintain the status quo, allowing the Mr Yabagi Yusuf Sani-led executive committee to continue piloting the affairs of the council until the hearing and determination of the motion on notice”.

The ADP chieftain added that the party “cannot tolerate electoral fraud or the manipulation of democratic processes.” and that his party “is committed to upholding democratic values, transparency, and the rule of law.”

He opined, “Political parties are the building blocks of our democracy, and we must lead by example in practising clean and acceptable election processes.”

He further stated, “Free and fair elections are essential for the growth and development of our nation.”
