Making Industries In Nigeria More Competitive Is Our Goal – Minister

Industries in Nigeria have been assured of getting the needed support to thrive and expand in a competitive manner for better economic prosperity in the country.

Nigeria’s Minister for Industry Trade and Investment Doris Uzoka-Anite made this known in Northern Commercial city of Kano, Nigeria, when she met with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and industry key players in the state.

She said, the support will ensure the reduction of food prices and foreign Exchange in the country.

The Minister noted that, she is in the Commercial city to have first hand information with industry key players in order to expand and optimize their operations.

She said that, the success of the industries will promote job creation and better economy in Nigeria.

Uzoka-Anite Promised that, the government of President Tinubu is determined to support the growth of industries in Nigeria.

“We will support commodity exchange for farmers to enhance production.”

She noted that, food security is a priority of president Bola Tinubu and is ready to improve the sector for the well being of Nigerians.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by the Chief of staff Alhaji Shehu Wada said, the agenda of President Bola Tinubu is similar to his development policy in ensuring economic revitalization in the North Western state.

He drew the attention the ministry in building capacity through Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, SMEDAN NAFDAC its various agencies of business men and industries for export and reduce import.

“Your ministry has advantage to identify areas of comparative advantage and build in that.”

Also, the commissioner for commerce Kano state Sani Abbas informed the Minister that, already the state has concluded plans to redesign the industrial sector to compete favourably.

Tracing the history of commerce since Sub-Sahara trade, Abbas said, Kano has championed many industrial revolution adding that if such potentials are reactivated, the state will expand its economic frontiers to the outside world.

He called for the revival of garment clusters situated in some areas in Kano
to Improved job creation and value addition.

The Minister Accompanied had also Interacted with the Managing Director Gerawa oil mills Mohamned Ibrahim and other key industry players where they discussed issues affecting the smooth running of the the industries.

The MD Gerawa highlighted insufficient of raw materials and power as well as insecurity as some of the challenges facing the Industry.

He called for the assistance of government to improve better.

The Minister also visited Dala Inland Dry Port where she was received by the Chief Executive Officer CEO Ahmed Rabiu and chalawa industrial estate in the Northern Commercial City.
