AFRD: President Tinubu leads officials to Juma’at Prayers

Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday led other top government functionaries and heads of security agencies to the Jumaat prayers in honour of the Armed Forces of Nigeria as the nation commemorates the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD).

The President was joined by the Minister of Defence, Dr Abubakar Badaru, Minister of State for Defence Dr Bello Matawalle, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar among other top government officials at the National Mosque, Abuja.

The Jumaat prayer is among the line up of the activities as the nation remembers its fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the peace and unity of Nigeria, as well as those still living.

The Chief Imam of the National Mosque, Prof. Ibrahim Maqari, who led the special prayers prayed for God’s guidance and protection for the armed forces as he called on all Nigerians to continue to support their efforts.

Prayers were also made for the living veterans who contributed their quota to the unity of the nation and the repose of the souls of the fallen heroes. The leadership of the country was equally lifted in prayers.

Among the activities that are lined for this year’s memorial are medical outreaches across all formations of the military, interdenominational church service on Sunday in all formations and the celebration will be climaxed on the 15th of January 2024 with the laying of wreaths by the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, Vice President and other top government officials as well as service chiefs at the National Arcade.
