By Temitope Mustapha, Abuja
The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has vowed to meet the high expectations of the people of the State.
Speaking with State House Correspondents on Friday, at the Presidential Villa, the governor acknowledged that his reaffirmed mandate comes with great expectations from voters.
“It places more burdens on our output, both the input and output,” he said.
Governor Alia described the expectations as “very, very tall” but said his administration has already started working to deliver results.
The governor highlighted that his administration had commissioned 16 roads while work is ongoing on a few others.
“Quite a number is done with out the 16 as I’m speaking here now. The remaining work is still on them,”.
He also pointed to plans for an underpass, overpass, renovating the decades-old state secretariat, and reforming the civil service through a new training institute.
Dividends of democracy
“We appreciate the support they continue to give. We’re going to live up to the expectations and then we keep giving them the dividends of democracy,” Governor Alia pledged.
On reforming the civil service, Governor Alia noted that the State Executive Council has approved the establishment of a training institute specifically to train civil servants.
He said he understands the expectations placed on the civil service and wants to ensure they are prepared to meet those expectations.
He expressed appreciation for the support, assuring them of living up to expectations.
