Hospital In Borno State to be overhaul After Governor’s Inspection

Governor Babagana Zulum, paid an impromptu visit to Mamman Shuwa Memorial hospital an old government establishment in Maiduguri for inspection.

During the inspection, His Excellency remarked that he had received credible information from a concerned individual highlighting severe deficiencies in some essential instruments at the hospital, like glucometers and blood pressure apparatus, along with inadequacies in other critical equipment.
Governor Zulum expressed concern about the conditions of the consulting rooms, impacting the ability of medical professionals to effectively carry out their duties.
Zulum also noted that, he was told even cesarean operations were being performed by corps members in the facility compromising the environment, the governor appealed to the public for patience, pledging to investigate the issue and initiate renovations and equip the hospital adequately.
Governor Zulum emphasized the need to address not just the physical infrastructure but also the ongoing maintenance and sustainability of the facility. He proposed the establishment of maintenance units in all state hospitals, holding both maintenance officers and hospital management accountable, should anything go wrong.
Highlighting the deteriorating state of the facilities, Zulum said ” you can see the power-generating room, the water-taps and other facilities all in bad shape. A minimum of 200,000 naira can repair all this, but people prefer to wait for the governor to do everything. We have to change the narrative “.
The governor promised to check how many doctors, nurses, and other health workers are on service . He suggested finding and bringing in more healthcare workers to help in different hospitals across the state and improve healthcare services.
