Anambra state Immigration, Road Safety partner for improved service delivery

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has synergized with Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to save lives and property on roads in Anambra State.

The newly appointed Comptroller of Immigration in Anambra State, Dr G.O Nwoke disclosed this when she paid an official visit to the Sector Commander FRSC, Anambra state Command, Corps Commander Adeoye A Irelewuyi in Awka, the state capital on Wednesday.

In a statement released by RC Margaret Onabe, the FRSC Sector Public Education Officer, the Comptroller of Immigration relayed her visit to FRSC Command as a result of her new appointment as the Comptroller of Immigration Anambra State.

The Comptroller said she appreciates collaboration between sister agencies and looks forward to working together as a team.

She affirmed to continue working in synergy with FRSC to serve the people of Anambra in saving lives and property on the roads.

She also disclosed to the Sector Commander that apart from International Passport that Immigration is known for, they have other functions.

“We are trained for security that is why we man boarders to avoid illegal immigrants from entering Nigeria.

“On investigation, we go round to check if Immigrants documents are up to date and ensure those on visiting visa don’t work because they are not permitted to, we also visit hotels to fish out under aged girls involved in prostitution, and also check out for human trafficking.”

Dr Nwoke appealed to the Command to assist in fishing out all manner of illegal activities of Immigrants and report as soon as possible.

Responding, the Sector Commander pledged to maintain 100 percent synergy with the Anambra State Immigration.

He informed the Comptroller Immigration Service (CIS) that the Command has enjoyed a good collaboration with Immigration and has been privileged to meet and work with 3 Comptrollers in Anambra State.

Speaking on the ongoing enforcement of number plate and Driver’s license, the Sector Commander informed the Comptroller that the Command will be embarking on mobile court sitting beginning from February, 2024 which has been domicile for more than 2 years now. Emphasizing the importance of proper registration of vehicles to avert incident of stolen vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Comptroller of Immigration pledged her support to the ongoing enforcement.

The CIS who appreciated the command’s efforts in savings lives, thanked the Sector Commander for the warm reception and urged Officers and men of the Command to keep up the good work.

Highlights of the visit was quarter guard and presentation of Plague by the Sector Commander and presentation of books written by the Comptroller to the Sector Commander.
