Nasarawa State Denies Involvement In Fulani Vigilante Formation

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule says that the state government was not involved in the setting up of the Fulani Vigilante Group recently constituted in the State.

Governor Sule said if it was from the government, a bill to that effect would be sent to the State Assembly for consideration.

He made this known while playing host to members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Danladi Jatau to congratulate him on the Supreme Court victory.

 

Governor Sule said that his administration would continue to promote peace in the State stressing that the security agencies are already investigating the issue of the Fulani Vigilante.

He said; “The security agencies are already investigating the issue.

“We refused to be part of it because it was purely issues of the security agencies.”

The Governor said that the state government did not recognise Fulani Vigilante just like any other vigilante group in the state.

As far as we are concerned, the Fulani Vigilante just like all other groups that wanted to have group have done that.

“We have not recognised anyone. As far as we are concerned, there is only one vigilante group recognised by the Nigerian Government which we also recognised in the state and that is Community policing,” he said.

“If anybody should know that the government has recognized any vigilante group, you should know more because that bill should have come to you as lawmakers and you should be the one to pass the bill before we can do that,” the Governor further said.

According to him, I am the number one peace promoter and I will never encourage insecurity in the state.

Governor Sule appreciated the Speaker for being up and doing in uniting members of the House as well as preaching unity and peace among communities across the state.

He said; “Danladi Jatau is a peacemaker. I am happy that Jatau is not only uniting members of the House but has gone far to communities preaching unity, and peace and drumming support for the government.

” I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

Governor Sule also thanked Honourable members for giving his government all the necessary and needed support to succeed.

He also urged members to monitor closely, especially at their oversight functions the activities of NG-CARES and other projects in the State to ensure that the right things are done.

The Speaker, of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau said that they were in the Government House to congratulate Gov. Sule on his Supreme Court victory.

He said; “Your Excellency, we are here as a House to congratulate you on your Supreme Court Victory.

“The Supreme Court victory is an affirmation of your victory in the March 18th, 2023 general elections.

“As leadership comes from God and the people of the state must accept the Supreme Court verdict in good faith.

The Speaker assured him of the House’s readiness under his leadership to effectively synergise for the overall development of the State.

Your Excellency, we want to assure you of our continuous readiness to give you maximum cooperation and support to succeed.

“The State Assembly is fully with you, we will work together with you and you should always count on us”, he said.

The Speaker promised his continued determination to unite members of the House and preach the message of unity and peace to various communities in the State.
