Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has extended condolences to the government and people of Namibia over the passing of President Hage Geingob.

A statement by the President’s Spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, stated that President Tinubu mourns the painful loss of the veteran in the struggle for democracy; he is a proponent of good governance and an advocate of economic, social, and political solidarity among Africans.

The Nigerian Leader noted that the demise of President Geingob comes at a time when Africa needs more visionary leaders who believe in the common destiny of the continent and who can strengthen bonds across borders and spread the tendrils of cooperation across all fields of human endeavour.

President Tinubu further assured the Republic that his thoughts and prayers, and those of Nigerians, are with them.

Namibia’s President, Hage Geingob, died at the age of 82 while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in the capital city of Windhoek.

Mr. Geingob had been diagnosed with cancer, in a detail made known to the public last month.

Namibia Vice President Nangolo Mbumba announced that President Geingob died early on Sunday with his wife and children by his side.
