A Nigerian Federal Lawmaker, Hon Joshua Audu Gana has advised Nigerians to be their brothers keeper to combat insecurity in the country.

Speaking with Voice of Nigeria in Abuja, the state capital, Hon Gana said that humanity must come first before religious or status.

He said that in a peaceful society, there are reporting and surveillance systems that enable everyone to know their neighbours and what they are up to at all times.

He noted that people had a way to pass information about happening in their localities.

Everybody has a reporting system in the community. You can go to the community leader, report it, you can go to the imam in the mosque, report it. Go to your local pastor, report it. You can go to the local police station, report it. You have your local vigilante, report it. Let the information go out. But now anything happens in your neighbours house, you don’t care, “Hon Gana said.

He pointed out that a time came when everybody started suspecting themselves and dividing alone religious and ethnic lines.

Hon Gana noted that Nigeria is bedeviled by insecurity problems in all the geopolitical zones of the country.

Before it was one section of the North East that was affected but now, it’s everywhere,” he said.

Development Closer
