The hospitality industry is a vital sector in Nigeria that serves as a catalyst for economic growth and sustainable development.
This was the position of the Deputy Director of Commercial and Special Duties at BON Hotels Octagon, Sandra Ogbahor during an event held on the Sidelines of Its official unveiling in Jahi, FCT Abuja, Nigeria’s Capital.
Ogbahor also urged the federal government to focus on improving the operating environment and investing in infrastructure to support the growth of the hospitality industry in the country.
According to her, the hospitality industry in Nigeria has been facing numerous challenges, hindering its growth and causing businesses to struggle but with the right support, the industry could create more jobs and stimulate economic growth in Nigeria.

“There are so many challenges in various businesses be it micro or Macro. One of the major difficulties faced by businesses in the hospitality industry is the high cost of operation including hefty taxes, high electricity tariffs, and a lack of infrastructure. These conditions raise the operational and maintenance costs for hotels and restaurants, leading to higher prices for customers and less profitability for businesses,” Ogbahor said.
She emphasized the need for the Federal government to increase its efforts in providing adequate infrastructure such as good roads, stable electricity supply, and access to clean water.
