The Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF) has distributed 40,000 bags of rice to widows in Anambra State and educational materials to students in the state

The Founder and Chairman of Chrome Group of companies, Emeka Offor, appealed to Nigerians to show compassion to widows, vulnerable and indigent in societies around them.

Speaking at the occasion at Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State the philanthropist, who thanked God for the gift of life as he marked his 65th birthday, said that the distribution of the 40,000 50kg bags to widows across the 179 communities of Anambra state marks the end of the third phase of the social investment program which was commissioned by the Vice President Kashim Shettima in November 2023

According to him, the foundation is distributing books and educational materials to over 200 educational institutions (primary, secondary and tertiary) in line with the belief that education forms the basis of excellence.

“My donation of food stuff to indigents is to ensure that those who do not have, share what those who have can afford.

“We’re also distributing books because it is the foundation of knowledge and we will sustain this intervention. You do not need to have too much to put smiles on the faces of people. The little that you have can be shared with other people.”

Speaking earlier, the state Governor, Chukwuma Soludo commended Offor for his commitment to uplifting lives, stating, “It’s not how long you live but how well. Sir Emeka Offor has demonstrated this essence of life.”

Governor Soludo who said that Offor’s contribution was an unprecedented display of public-private partnership also commended the philanthropist’s donation of educational materials to schools

The Governor outlined his administration’s efforts in infrastructure development, healthcare, and education and used the occasion to call on other wealthy individuals to emulate Offor’s generosity and contribute to the state’s development.

Governor Soludo announced the creation of the “Anambra Champions” list to recognize individuals contributing to the progress of the state and declared the philanthropist a prime example of the “Anambra spirit” of philanthropy and community service.
