Ogun Govt Assures Support for Mass Food Production

The Ogun State Government has assured indigenes of its commitment to enhancing food production as this would cushion the effect of food inflation in Ogun state, Southwestern, Nigeria.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Bolu Owotomo, gave the assurance during a retreat organized for the Ministry of Agriculture’s management in Ijebu-Ode he stressed the importance of sustainable agriculture and food security for achieving national development.

Owotomo shared that the state was making efforts to promote dry-season farming as this would give room for year-round planting, aligning with the Federal Government’s objectives.

He also highlighted “the state’s distribution of inputs to 500 farmers within a week, with support from various stakeholders.”

Additionally, Owotomo assured residents of the government’s dedication to ensuring the availability of agricultural inputs in the markets and enhancing youth engagement in agriculture through mechanized farming improvements.

In his remarks, Professor Kolawole Adebayo stressed the need for effective leadership in driving economic sustainability and food security.
