Flourish Ventures, a prominent early-stage fintech venture capital (VC) firm, has unveiled its latest endeavor, “The African Founder Well-being Survey,” aimed at shedding light on the unique challenges encountered by tech entrepreneurs across the continent.

In a press release, Flourish emphasized its commitment to understanding the hurdles faced by VC-backed founders in Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria, with the ultimate goal of advocating for their needs and fostering a supportive ecosystem.

Partnering with local stakeholders and research firm Startup Snapshot, Flourish seeks to delve into the intricacies of the African tech landscape and address the pressing issue of founder well-being.

Efayomi Carr, Investment Principal at Flourish, underscored the significance of this initiative, highlighting the pervasive stress and potential burnout experienced by African tech founders amidst economic uncertainties.

Founder well-being, Carr noted, is a pivotal yet often overlooked aspect of entrepreneurial success, necessitating comprehensive research and support from investors and ecosystem partners.

By spearheading this survey in collaboration with Startup Snapshot, Flourish aims to elevate the discourse surrounding founder well-being, not only within Africa but on a global scale.

Through the participation of tech entrepreneurs from Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria, the survey endeavours to catalyze discussions, pave the way for localized support systems, and establish a blueprint for nurturing the African tech ecosystem holistically.

VC-backed founders in the aforementioned countries are encouraged to contribute to the survey, which guarantees anonymity to all respondents. Flourish emphasizes the importance of sharing experiences to illuminate the challenges faced by founders and drive positive change within the ecosystem.

The African Founder Well-being Survey follows in the footsteps of Flourish’s 2023 founder survey conducted in Brazil in collaboration with Endeavour, further underscoring the firm’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurial well-being on a global scale.
