The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Aliyu Umar Yusuf has joined Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to launch the distribution of food items as palliatives to the state’s residents.

The flag off took place on Tuesday in Lokoja at the Muhammadu Buhari Square.
Speaking at the event, the Speaker empathised with the people of the state passing through trying times like their counterparts across the country, saying that the palliative is a proof that the current administration is doing everything possible to bring succor.

He therefore called on leaders at all levels to look beyond the palliative and address the issue of high cost of foodstuffs which is fast becoming a problem in the State especially in Lokoja, the capital.

Yusuf said; “As representatives of the people, we will not remain silent, we will ensure what is due to the citizens are made available to them to make life better for them.”

The Governor Usman Ododo said that making the palliatives available without any delay, is to assure the people that he is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.

He promised that his determination would sustain the legacies of his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in alleviating the suffering of the people through the palliative distribution.

Governor Ododo also declared that the palliative was meant for people at the lower level of socio-economic ecosystem of the state and that his government would not tolerate any attempt to hoard the food items.

The Governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu for making it possible to distribute palliatives.

He said that President Tinubu is working hard to make Nigerians get out of the economic trial the country is facing.
