The Kwara State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has denied its involvement in the alleged recent raid on the campus of Kwara State University (KWASU) in the Malete area of Kwara State, North Central Nigeria.

The agency made this clarification during a Press conference in Ilorin addressed by the Deputy Commander of the agency, Hajia Fatima Gambari on the heels of report of raid by their operatives on the school campus.

Kwara NDLEA described the report of their involvement as false and baseless, saying ”the primary objective of the press conference was to clarify that the reports of an NDLEA raid in Kwara State University were entirely false and baseless.

The agency categorically denied any involvement in such an operation and emphasized the importance of accurate reporting in upholding public trust and credibility,” it said.

The Deputy State Commander of the agency noted that it is important for the members of the public to identify the correct uniform of the officers of the NDLEA, to distinguish them from impersonators.

She said, “NDLEA officers wear distinctive red jackets with “NDLEA” inscription boldly written on both arms, the back, and the top left portion of the Jacket.

“This detail serves as a crucial identifier to distinguish legitimate NDLEA operations from fraudulent activities and impersonations.”

She, however, noted that NDLEA officers adhere strictly to rules and regulations governing their operations and their conduct reflects the agency’s commitment to professionalism and integrity in carrying out their duties.

Also speaking at the conference, delegates from Kwara State University, led by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Shayk Luqman Jimoh affirmed the absence of any raid or related incident within the university premises.

According to reports, the operatives of the NDLEA were said to have stormed the school on Thursday night alongside the police while the EFCC was reported to have done the same a night before.
