The leadership of the Mi-Yetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has vowed to sensitise and root out bad actors among the pastoralists engaged in the use of illicit drugs and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons within their communities.

The National President of the Association, Baba Othman Ngalzarman, who gave the assurance while interacting with journalists in Paikoro local council of Niger State North Central Nigeria over the weekend, noted that as leaders and parents, all hands must be on deck to sensitise youths against all forms of crime and criminality plaguing the country.

While appreciating the efforts of the military and other security agencies towards protecting the lives and property of citizens, he also appealed to them to always observe the rules of engagement in the discharge of their duty of safeguarding the citizens.

Ngalzarman claimed that the rate at which the military and vigilantes conduct their operations in some states, leading to the killing of cows, is alarming, citing the recent bombing in the Giwa community of Nasarawa State.

He stated, “We are mostly affected by the activities of banditry and cattle rustling,” adding that during the period under review, no fewer than 15,000 pastoralists were killed, and 4 million cows were rustled.”

Regarding the food crisis rocking the country, MACBAN’s President voiced concern over the suffering in the land and revealed that the association had established a business arm to interface with critical stakeholders, especially traders from major markets in the country, in a bid to complement federal government efforts towards curtailing the food crisis across the country.
