Nasarawa Assembly Confirms Executive Chairman, Others As Members Of Disability Rights Commission

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has confirmed Sale Barde-Keana as Executive Chairman and 4 other members of the state Disability Rights Commission.

The Speaker of the House, Mr Danladi Jatau, announced the confirmation at a plenary after the nominees appeared before the House in Lafia, the state capital.

The speaker congratulated them on their appointments and urged them not to fail in the discharge of their duties.

”The House hereby confirm Sale Barde Keana as Executive Chairman while Tafida Adamu Jibrin,  Ishaku Manji,  Mohammed Mohammed and Bridget Christopher as members of the commission,” he said.

The speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the resolutions to Governor Abdullahi Sule for further necessary action.

Earlier, Mr Suleiman Azara, (APC-Awe South) and Majority Leader of the House moved the motion for confirmation of the nominees.

The Minority Leader of the House, Mr Luka  Zhekaba seconded the motion.

The House unanimously confirmed the Executive Chairman and other members of the commission.

Addressing newsmen, the Executive Chairman of the commission, Sale Barde-Keana expressed their appreciation to Governor Sule and the House for the confidence reposed in them.

He described Governor Sule as one who believed in ability in disability, hence the need for their appointments.

“We would do everything humanly possible to implement policies and programmes that would   improve on our lives and bring speedy development to the state,” he said.

The chairman assured of his readiness  to conduct head count of the people living with disability, to determine their number for proper planning.

”We will conduct headcount of people living with disability in the state in order to impact positively on their lives,” he stated.

Asaba Averson appreciated Governor Sule for establishing the commission towards improving on the standard of living of people with special need.
