Electric vehicle giant Tesla is reviving its aspirations for the eagerly awaited second-generation Roadster, with deliveries set to begin in 2025, following years of delays and adjustments to the project.

In a recent statement, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced significant design advancements for the Roadster, with the final production version slated for unveiling later this year. This update comes after the initial Roadster reveal in late 2017, with a projected launch originally set for 2020.

“Tonight, we radically increased the design goals for the new Tesla Roadster,” Musk said in a post on X, adding that the Roadster’s production design will be completed and unveiled by the end of this year.

However, the Roadster’s journey has been marked by postponements. Initially slated for launch in 2021, Musk attributed setbacks to global supply chain hurdles, pushing the debut to 2023.

However, even this revised timeline was adjusted in 2023, with production expected to start the subsequent year. With the new target set for 2025, Tesla seems to be advancing steadily toward the delivery of this high-performance electric sports car.

The Roadster boasts impressive performance specifications, including a claimed 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) time of 1.1 seconds and a SpaceX package option featuring small rocket thrusters for enhanced acceleration, braking, and cornering. However, it’s important to note that this package remains a proposal with uncertain implementation.

While the 2025 target signifies a renewed commitment, potential hurdles like supply chain constraints and technological complexities may still pose challenges.
