The of National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has been commended for mentoring Corps Members on leadership roles and also providing skill acquisition training for them in order to become self-reliant.
The General Officer Commanding, 82 Div. Nigerian Army, Enugu, Major General HT Dada gave the commendation when he hosted the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed in his office in Enugu State, South East Nigeria.
General Dada described NYSC as a symbol of national unity, saying “the deployment policy of NYSC by posting Corps Members outside their State of Origin has exposed many graduate youths to know different cultures, values and beliefs of other tribes across the country.”
He said many ex-corps members have become self reliant through the NYSC entrepreneurship training they were exposed to, during their service year.
The GOC also poured encomiums on the NYSC Director General for his uncommon leadership style which has positively transformed the Scheme since his assumption of duty.
“We have no option we are going to support you,” Dada said.
Speaking earlier, Brigadier General Yushau’ Ahmed thanked the officers and men of the division for their immense support for the National Youth Service Corps Secretariats within their areas of jurisdiction.
He however solicited more security assistance especially through patrols on NYSC formations, Corps Lodges among others.
Also while addressing Corps Members during his visit to Enugu State Orientation Camp in Awgu, Brigadier General YD Ahmed warned them against night traveling and indulging in any act that can endanger their lives.
He stated that NYSC Management has partnered security agencies to provide maximum protection for them throughout their service year.
The NYSC Enugu State Coordinator, Mrs Christianah Salmwang in her camp report to the Director General said the relationship between NYSC Enugu State Secretariat and the State Government has been very cordial.
She attributed the success recorded so far during the Orientation Exercise to the synergy among the entire camp officials and the 1,573 Corps Members comprising 785 male and 788 females.
