A Federal High Court in Kano state North West Nigeria, has affirmed that the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission does not have the powers to investigate or prosecute the dollar video case against the former Governor of the state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The court in a judgement delivered by Justice Abdu Muhammad Liman held that, the alleged case against the former governor fell under the jurisdiction of the federal law.

The court held that, only a Federal anti-graft agency such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) can investigate and prosecute the case

The court therefore ordered the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission to take its hands off the case.

Reacting to the judgment, counsel to the Commission, Usman Umar Fari told journalists that they would initiate an appeal against the judgement.

It would be recalled that last year, the same court had restrained the anti-graft Commission from inviting, harassing or arresting the Kano state Former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, any member of his family or any of his appointees on account of the said case.

The restraining order followed an ex parte motion filed by the Counsel to the Applicant, Mr. B. Hemba.
