Former Chief of Army Staff General Theophilus Danjuma emphasized that the ongoing insecurity in the country cannot be justified.

He called upon the Service Chiefs to take decisive action to eradicate banditry nationwide and restore peace to areas affected by conflict.

General Danjuma said this in his address at a book launch titled “Big Boots: Lessons From My Military Service” written by retired Major General Solomon Udounwa at the Armed Forces Command Officers Mess, in Abuja.

He said Nigeria’s security agencies must end the pandemic of insecurity and stop the killings in the country as soon as possible as there are no excuses for those still in service.

General Danjuma who was the Chairman of the occasion praised the author’s commitment to excellence in his military career and for painstakingly capturing his experience in a book to also enrich the experience of others still in the field.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, emphasized that the military is diligently working to restore peace throughout the country.

He underscored the unwavering dedication and commitment of the personnel to the reinstatement of peace and security in the nation.

General Musa affirmed that the Nigerian military remains resolute in the face of challenges and is unwavering in its mission.

“I want to assure you that we have learned a lot from your record, very, very distinguished senior officers that have modelled us all through the years. We cannot afford to fail and we will not fail,” stated General Christopher Musa.

The author of the book, Retired Major General Udounwa, emphasized that the military profession relies heavily on experiential learning, which is meticulously documented to serve as a valuable resource for future learning and development.

” If you don’t document your experiences, that could be lost and those coming behind you might not be able to learn from all the exposure and all the training that you had while in service,” he said.

According to General Udenwa, his book will interest those serving, military historians, those in academia, and anyone interested in national and international security affairs.

He encouraged the younger generation of officers who are still serving to learn from some of the challenges captured and documented in the book and how he was able to navigate through them while serving with discipline, professionalism, integrity, and courage.
