Kaduna Government Unveils Women Peace, Security Action Plan

Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani has unveiled the Women Peace and Security Action Plan 2 and Youth Peace and Security Action Plan documents, which he attributed to the government’s commitment to achieving a sustainable peace-building process.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner of the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development, Hajia Rabi Salisu, spoke on the occasion of International Day of Peace and unveiling of the Kaduna State Women Peace and Security Action Plan (KAD-SAP WPS11) and Kaduna State Youth Peace and Security Action Plan (KAD-SAP YPS), at the Kaduna State University.

According to him “Today we are gathered to celebrate a fundamental human aspiration for peace on this International Day of Peace, we reaffirm our commitment to harmony, understanding, and cooperation in our society.

“As we strive for peace, we recognize the resilience of humanity in the face of conflict and inequality, the power of diversity and shared aspirations for a better world, and the importance of empathy, compassion, and inclusive dialogue.

“Let us celebrate our differences and promote cultural understanding, support peacebuilders, activists, and leaders working towards reconciliatory processes while advocating for policies that prioritize peace, justice, and human rights.”

He said after the unveiling, the actual Launch of the two documents will be done at a later date.

“This marks a significant step forward in our collective pursuit for peace, justice, and equality. As we commemorate International Peace Day, we honor the tireless efforts of individuals and organizations dedicated to promoting peace and security in our communities.

“The development of the Early Warning and Early Response System( EWER) in Kaduna State is a testimony of the power of our strong collaboration and innovation in preventing conflict and promoting peace in our society.

“As we unveil the Women Peace and Security and Youth Peace and Security Action Plans today, the current administration recognizes the critical role the women and youth play in building and sustaining peaceful co-existence and unity of purpose.”

He also acknowledged the challenges faced by women and girls in conflict situations and further reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to protecting their rights and dignity.
