Minister tasks Nigerian Youths on nation-building

The Minister for State Youth Development, Mr Ayodole Olawande, has charged the Youths to be selfless and patriotic toward nation-building. He made the call at the retirement dinner of the Director, Corps Mobilization, National Youth Service Corps, Walida Siddique, in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The minister said youth contribution to nation-building is essential and urged the Nigerian Youths to work hard in every aspect of the profession they find themselves in regardless of religion, political ideology, or ethnicity.

“No doubt, her tireless effort has left an indelible mark, and her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate not only the staff of NYSC but anyone familiar with her work and ethics.

“Hajia Saddique’s commitment to excellence, vision, and unwavering support have contributed significantly to shaping the National Youth Service Corps into what it is today.”

In his goodwill message, the Director General Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization Chief Obinna Nwaka commended the effort of Sadik and appreciated her mentorship of Nigerian youths

“The essence of Organizing this retirement dinner for Hajia Walida is to celebrate her and reawaken the consciousness of Nigerians, especially the people in both the public and civil service, for them to understand that serving Nigeria is not about self, is about performing your duty excellently.

“If an organization like ours can honor her, it means that is a wakeup call to all of us who are being given positions to serve Nigeria, to search our consciousness that are we doing the right thing, are we representing the government well in our respective positions, are we reaching out to people or we are just there to serve family members and friends.

“She has served the country better, that is why we use this opportunity to set a standard for people to know as a body we are taking note of people who are in a position to serve the public, especially the young people, if you do better we celebrate you and if you fail we also have a way to celebrate you too.”

In her response Sadik said the challenges she encountered equipped her with many skills and experience to achieve success in her career, she further expressed her gratitude to the Committee of Youth on Mobilization and Sensitization, the Ministry of Youth Development and National Youth Service Corps for organizing the event.
