President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a 30-day National Youth Conference, that will address diverse challenges and opportunities confronting Nigerian youths, who constitute 60 percent of the nation’s population.

The President made this known in his nationwide broadcast delivered on Tuesday, October 1st to commemorate the 64th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.

President Tinubu assured the Nigerian youths that the government will thoroughly consider and implement the recommendations and outcomes from the forum as it remains resolute in its mission to build a more inclusive, prosperous, and united Nigeria.

30-Day Youth Confab

The President said the youth confab will provoke meaningful dialogue and empower Nigerian youths to participate actively in nation-building.

The Nigerian Leader further stated that the Confab will unite young Nigerians nationwide towards developing solutions to issues such as education, employment, innovation, security and social justice.

“As we work to overcome the challenges of the day, we remain mindful of the next generation as we seek to galvanise their creative energy towards a better future. We lead today with the future we wish to bequeath to our children in focus, recognising that we cannot design a future that belongs to them without making them its architects.

“Considering this, I am pleased to announce the gathering of a National Youth Conference. This conference will be a platform to address the diverse challenges and opportunities confronting our young people, who constitute more than 60 per cent of our population. It will provoke meaningful dialogue and empower our young people to participate actively in nation-building. By ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the policies that impact their lives, we are creating a pathway for a brighter tomorrow,” the President added.

Modalities, Selection Process

The President disclosed the modalities of the Confab and selection of delegates, to include a designed close consultation with the youth through their representatives.

He added that leaders with pedigree will ensure that the aspirations of the young Nigerians remain at the heart of the youth conference deliberations.

President Tinubu further listed other several youth-centric programmes planned to provide prospects for the youth in the communication and digital economy space.

He mentioned the 3 million Technical Talents programme (3MTT) of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, aimed at building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone, amongst many other programmes.

“We have also enthusiastically implemented the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provides cheap loans to our students to pursue their tertiary educational dreams.” the President added.
