TRADOC Commander Inaugurates 2024 Promotion Exam Panel

The Commander of the Nigerian Army’s Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC NA), Major General Kevin Aligbe has inaugurated the Examination Panel for the 2024 Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE).

The event took place at the Officers’ Mess, Headquarters of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment, Akure, Ondo State Southwest Nigeria.

Major General Aligbe congratulated the members of the Examination Panel for the unique opportunity to serve, challenging them not to compromise the standards and values of the examination.

The Commander further stated that “their selection to participate in the exercise was based on their honesty, high level of integrity, and professional competence.”

Major General Aligbe, who is also the Examination President, emphasised that the purpose of the exercise was to set the tone for their involvement in creating thought-provoking questions for the candidates’ assessment, fortifying the foundation of their career progression.

He also urged the 24-member panel to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The  Commander stressed that the examination must be realistic and innovative, aligning with the current security challenges faced by the Nigerian Army.

He stressed that the examination should help the Army produce problem-solving officers in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy. The Commander reminded the panelists that they are assessing officers who will work with them to achieve national defense and security objectives.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Obinna Onubogu, whose formation is hosting the exercise, represented by the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General John Lar, welcomed the Commander TRADOC NA and his team to Akure for the 2024 CMPPE and congratulated the panelists on their well-deserved nomination.

Major General Onubogu further stated that it was an honour for the 2 Division Nigerian Army to host the 2024 CMPPE and for the 32 Artillery Brigade to be the host formation.

He emphasized that the examination is a critical step in the career progression of Nigerian Army officers at the rank of Captain, urging the candidates to display utmost honesty, commitment, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The GOC described the examination as a catalyst for career progression, adding that it will equip candidates with the requisite knowledge to play active roles in supporting the Nigerian Army in achieving the nation’s defense and security objectives.

He assured the Examination President and his team of the 2 Division’s readiness to ensure a hitch-free examination and reminded the panelists to remain security conscious both individually and collectively.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC), Chief of Training (Army), Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation, Acting Director of Examination TRADOC NA, as well as observers and others.

Prior to the inauguration ceremony, the panelists underwent a special training session to refresh their memories, coordinated by the Acting Director of Examination, TRADOC NA, Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba.
