The families of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Benue State have been given financial assistance by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.

Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP. Steve Yabanet, distributed cheques totalling N45,887,000 to 43 beneficiaries as part of the police welfare scheme.

A statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, SP. Catherine Anene, quoted the CP as advising the families to invest the money wisely to become self-reliant as they wait for other benefits from the Police force.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the IGP for the timely assistance, and for recognising the challenges they faced in the past.

They prayed for the IGP’s continued efforts to fight for the rights of police officers.
