‘The Weekend’, ‘Jagun Jagun’ Shine in AMAA 2024 Nominations

The Africa Film Academy (AFA), organizers of the renowned Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), announced the nominations for the eagerly awaited 20th edition of the awards on Wednesday night.

The event was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, with prominent members of the jury, the screener college, and the AFA board in attendance.

Key figures from the Africa Film Academy (AFA) were present at the nominations announcement for the 20th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), held at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos. Among them were Mr. Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, AMAA’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Tony Anih, and Mr. Kingsley James, producer of the AMAA gala night. Their presence highlighted the importance of the event as the academy prepares for the landmark 20th edition, which celebrates excellence in African cinema.

This year’s AMAA, themed “Celebrating African Creativity,” is being held in partnership with the Lagos State government.

At the unveiling of the 2024 AMAA nominations, Anyiam-Osigwe outlined an exciting lineup of events for the 20th edition. Key activities include the launch of the AMAA Coffee Table Book, the AMAA Africa Night of Legends, AMAA Meets Nollywood, the AMAA Africa Fashion Show and Exhibition, and the grand finale, the prestigious AMAA Gala Night. These events are designed to celebrate African cinematic excellence and bring together industry professionals from across the continent.

The 20th Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) began with the announcement of nominees and categories. Key events include the AMAA Coffee Table Book launch on October 25 and the AMAA Africa Night of Legends on November 1, culminating in the awards ceremony and gala night on November 2, 2024, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.

The unveiling event was hosted by Vimbai Mutinhiri Ekpenyong, with notable attendees including George Anyiam-Osigwe and his wife Chinyere, Kennedy Anyiam-Osigwe, Raymond Anyiam-Osigwe, NFVCB Executive Director Dr. Shaibu Husseini, and industry figures such as Steve Ayorinde, Nobert Young, Segun Arinze, and Dr. Queen Blessing Ebigieson.
