Public servants in Nigeria have been urged to cultivate leadership, integrity, and dedication to service to remain relevant to society and the nation as a whole.
The Nasarawa State Head of the Civil Service, Abigail Waya, stated this during the farewell ceremony of the retiring Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Barr. Isaac Danladi, in Lafia, the state capital.
She advised them to always put in their best while in service, to leave a lasting legacies they could be remembered for after retirement.
Waya further commended the outgone Permanent Secretary for his valuable service to the Sport Ministry and the State in General, saying his qualities would undoubtedly guide him in his future endeavours.
Speaking during the event, Commissioner For Youth and Sports Development, Jafaru Ango showered praises on the outgone Permanent Secretary, Mr. Isaac Danladi for working so hard for the success of the Ministry.
He described him as the pillar of the Ministry, humble and team player, calling on staff of the Ministry to be dedicated to their duties by respecting each other and avoiding gossips.
Danladi having served in the last 35 years in the civil service bowed out of office with glowing tributes and rains of eulogies.
Speaking at the farewell ceremony at the Ministry in Lafia, the retiring Permanent Secretary, in an emotion-laden voice, extended deep appreciation to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State for according him the opportunity to serve in many capacities till the rank of a Permanent Secretary, noting that the rare privilege is unforgettable.
Danladi saluted the mentorship and support he has received while in service from the State Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, his family, the Commissioner of the Ministry, Jafaru Ango, the Head of the Civil Service, Abigail Waya and other colleagues in the civil service, assuring them that it would remain indelible in his life.
While expressing his satisfaction for leaving the civil service as a fulfilled man, he explained that “he had no regrets on stepping on any toes in the course of service as it was done in order to ensure discipline and effective service delivery not to frustrate anyone.”
He equally urged upcoming civil servants to dedicate themselves in the service, maintaining that no hard work is a waste.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of award to Mr lsaac Danladi by the Nasarawa State Chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN for His contribution to Sports Development in the State.
