Anambra: Volleyball Referees And Coaches Course For Enhancing Excellence

The recent 10-day Volleyball Referee Course and 5-day South East Volleyball Coaching Course in Anambra State concluded successfully, marking a significant stride in the region’s sporting development.

Hosted at the Archbishop Obiefuna Retreat Center in Nodu-Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area, the course was sponsored by the Anambra State Government and organized by the Anambra State Sports Development Commission (ASSDC) in collaboration with the Anambra State Volleyball Association. This initiative aims to bolster the skills of referees and coaches throughout the South East.
Renowned volleyball expert and the most decorated Nigerian in the sport, Mr. Tony Ogbuma, served as the primary instructor for the course. As a former President of the Volleyball Referees Association, Ogbuma brought extensive experience and insights to the training.
In an interview with sports journalists, Mr. Ogbuma praised the participants, highlighting their professionalism and eagerness to apply the techniques and strategies learned during the training. He expressed optimism that the effects of this program would become evident in the coming years, while also commending Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his support of the initiative through the ASSDC.
Emeka Obidimma, the Director of Sports at the ASSDC, urged attendees to implement the knowledge they acquired in their respective domains. He underscored the importance of continuous development in fostering improved volleyball performance across the state.
Sports Consultant to the ASSDC, Olu Sule, encouraged participants to prioritize nurturing and developing young talents at the grassroots level to build future champions. Sule reaffirmed Governor Soludo’s dedication to creating a vibrant sports culture in Anambra State, noting the Governor’s significant contributions to the growth of sports in the region.
This successful training marks a promising development for volleyball in Anambra and the South East, laying a foundation for a new era of skilled referees and dynamic coaches.
