Sell-offs Drag Equities Market Into Losses

The equities market closed negative on Tuesday with the all- share index dropping by 0.12% to close at 97,584.91 points just as the market capitalisation recorded a N70 billion decline to close at N56,075 trillion.

Despite the losses, 25 stocks gained while 30 stocks declined.

The top gainers were Regency Alliance Insurance with a 10% gain and a closing price of 55k, followed by PZ Cussons Nigeria with 8.78% price rise to close at N19.20k and Cutix which gained 5.6% to close at N2.64k.

On the other hand,  Guinness Nigeria dropped by 10% to close at N61.20k. It was followed by Africa Prudential with 9.86% loss and a closing price of N9.60k while International Breweries dropped by 9.07% to close at N4.01k.

In all, a total of 719,111 million shares valued at N8.341 billion were traded in 9,435 deals on Tuesday.
