A leading candidate from the Labour Party for the 2025 governorship election in Anambra State has urged voters to avoid repeating past mistakes but  to elect only good candidates.

Addressing a gathering of dignitaries from diverse parties and religious backgrounds at the Osisioma Peace Lodge in Umunya, Oyi Local Government Area of the state, Ozigbo emphasised the urgent need for the right leadership to steer the state toward a better future.

Describing himself as a ‘child of grace’ from a humble background, Ozigbo expressed his commitment to redeeming Anambra State and restoring it to its former glory. He lamented the state’s current reputation as the worst in security challenges within the Southeast, arguing that only competent and visionary leadership could navigate these issues effectively.

“The development of Anambra State goes beyond petty politics and is a collective responsibility,” Ozigbo stated. He asserted that his extensive experience in the business sector equips him with the skills necessary to reverse the state’s decline. “To put Anambra back on the map, we need a holistic approach that will focus on vital sectors such as education, health, and security,” he stated.

Historical figures

Ozigbo also highlighted historical figures from Anambra, including Nnamdi Azikiwe and Chinua Achebe, whose legacies are overshadowed by the state’s current challenges. He emphasised his mantra, “Ka Anambra Chawapu,” urging residents to work together to bring positive change.

Founder of the Osisioma Foundation, Dr. Chike Obidigbo expressed his disappointment with current Governor Chukwuma Soludo for failing to fulfill campaign promises, particularly in transforming Anambra into the “Dubai of Africa.” While not endorsing any candidate, Obidigbo stated, “We are here to listen and learn from aspirants like Ozigbo to ensure we do not repeat the mistakes of the past.”

Meanwhile, as the 2025 elections approach, the call for accountability and informed voting is resonating among Anambra’s citizens, with Ozigbo positioning himself as a leader capable of reviving the state’s fortunes.
