The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has delivered a solar powered borehole with a tank capacity of 10 cubic meters to the community of Litri in Chad, located approximately 5 kilometers from the Nigeria’s border.

This according to the Chief Military Public Information Officer MNJTF N’Djamena Chad, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, is in its commitment to improving the lives of communities in the Lake Chad region.

The inauguration of the solar powered borehole was performed by the Force Commander (FC) MNJTF, Major General Ibrahim Ali, in the presence of key Military Commanders from Sector 2 Bagasola, staff officers from Headquarters MNJTF and representatives of Defence Council International.

Major General Ali noted that the borehole facility will provide clean and safe water to the Litri Community, a project made possible through the generous support of the European Union and their partners under the Defence Council International.

The Force Commander stated that the borehole facility symbolizes a shared commitment to improving the lives of members of communities within the Lake Chad region by ensuring their fundamental right to access clean water.

He therefore tasked the people of Litri Community to make judicious use of the water facility as more similar initiatives will be done if he is impressed with how the facility is being managed.

Earlier the representative of the Commander Sector 2 Brigadier General Oumar Adam Silik emphasized the successful collaboration with the civilian population in achieving the milestone.

He urged the community to care for the water facility and called for continued support from partners, particularly the European Union, to expand such initiatives to other communities.

The newly installed water solar powered borehole facility has a capacity of 10 cubic meters and it is equipped with solar panels for water treatment, micro filters, and an automatic chrome dispenser. It also has a high-voltage pump to ensure efficient water supply.

This essential facility is the result of a partnership between the MNJTF, Defense Council International (DCI), and TRACT SARL, funded by the European Union.

The boulama of Litri expressed immense gratitude to the MNJTF for their numerous contributions to the community’s well-being. He said the water facility shows that MNJTF is a sincerely concerned towards improving access to clean water and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Litri.
