Skills: Katsina State empowers 455 Girls

The Katsina state government has empowered 455 Girls from the four Acquisition skills centres in the State

The Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Girls child and child development, Jamila Mani disclosed this while speaking at a sensitisation meeting to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.

The even was organized by the Institute of Human virology of Nigeria (IHVN) in collaboration with the Department of Girls Child and child Development held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School Katsina.

The Special Adviser represented by the Parmanent Secretary of the Department, Aminu Badaru also revealed that 500 more Girls would be graduating and empowered in December this year.

Mani added that currently 800 Out of School Girls are under going safe space training in 4 Local Government Areas in the State which include Katsina,Batagarawa, Mani and Daura.

The Special Adviser then appreciated the unwavering commitment of the State Government under the leadership of Mallam Dikko Umar Radda for his visionary leadership support to the Department towards improving the lives of the children in the State especially Girls.

Earlier,the programme Manager of the Institute of Human Virology of  Nigeria, Ahmed Tijjani commended the efforts of the State Government towards improving the welfare of Girls Child in the State.

He called on the Stakeholders on the need to commit more funding and investments in infrastructure to support the Education of Girls Child in the State.

In a vote of thanks, the principal of Government Girls Senior Secondary School Katsina, Rabi Daura  expressed her appreciation to the Department and the Institute of Human Virology of Nigeria in choosing the school for the sensitisation to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child.
