The Kebbi state Government said over 200 horses from seven countries are expected to participate in the maiden edition of the Gwandu Emirate Annual Horse Racing and Cultural Festival, scheduled for November 18, 2024.
In a press release, by the Press Secretary to the State Government, Ahmad Idris, stated that the festival, which will take place from November 18 to 23, 2024, in Birnin Kebbi, will feature a variety of events including the Malam Abdullahi Fodio Annual Lecture, an Agricultural Fair, Cultural Displays, Durbar, and the Horse Racing competition.
Speaking to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the Chief Coordinator of the event, Alhaji Mustapha Usma-Adamu, Sarkin Bargun Ka’oje, said participants are expected from Niger Republic, Benin Republic, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, and other nations.
He emphasized that the event is part of the emirate’s contribution to the government of His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, in promoting the state’s culture.
