First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Visits Maiduguri Donates To Flood Victims

Accompanying her were Fatima Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Laila Barau, wife of the Deputy Senate President, and the wives of the governors of Borno, Delta, Niger, and Yobe States, among others.

During her visit, Senator Tinubu, who chairs the Renewed Hope Initiative, expressed her sympathy for the people and government of Borno.

She had previously donated N500 million through her initiative were she was represented by her vice the wife of the Vice President,  Nana Shettima during the flood crisis but came to assess the situation firsthand.

In addition, she announced a further donation of N250 million to aid 5,000 affected women traders, with each receiving N50,000. She prayed that such disasters would not occur again in Borno or elsewhere in Nigeria.

Senator Tinubu also distributed essential food and non-food items to affected women, including sanitary pads, cooking oil, milk, cartons of spaghetti, and  bags  of semolina.

She earlier visited the Shehu of Borno in his Palace to sympathize with the ruler and prayed for such disasters to not happen again.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, in his welcoming remarks, thanked the First Lady for her N500 million donation and acknowledged the federal government’s continued support.

He expressed Borno’s gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and recognized the efforts of Health Minister Professor Ali Pate and other partners during the state’s difficult times.
